Star of the Sea A.C.’s primary goals for Juvenile Athletics include:

Inclusiveness for all participants and supporting Athletics Ireland programmes to increase participation in athletics. As a club, we follow Athletics Ireland goals by ensuring that all competitions are athlete centred and approatiate, aiming at developing the talents of our local athletes to make stars of the future. Training is aimed at giving juveniles the opportunity to participate in athletic programmes by providing the correct skills.

Juvenile Team Training: Club Juvenile Team Training (under 18yrs old) is every Monday from 6pm-7pm (during School Term) in Gormanston College Sports Complex. Training takes place on the track at the Complex during spring and autumn. When the evenings get darker, training moves indoors to Gormanston Colleges Sports Complex. Only registered Club Members can train and compete with the club for health and safety purposes. There is a weekly charge for juvenile training to pay for use of the facilities – currently €3 per juvenile. All Star of the Sea Members are asked only to use the facilities at Gormanston College at official club training – as it is private property. By attending weekly training you are making yourself available for selection for juvenile teams and individual events throughout the athletics calendar.

Training groups for 2014 are as follows:
Group A: u13 (born 2002), u14 (born 2001), u15 (born 2000), u16 (born 1999).
Group B: under 12 (born in 2003), under 11 (born 2004).
Group C: under 10 (born 2005), under 9 (born 2006), under 8 (born 2007 – must be at least 7 to start training).

Juvenile Competition:Just like all other sports club, as a registered member and attending weekly training you are making yourself available for selection for juvenile teams and individual events throughout the athletics calender, and you are willing to travel within Meath & Leinster to participate in some weekend competitions. Keep an eye on ‘fixtures’ menu for events.

Athletics Ireland Juvenile Competition Programmes include individual, club, county and provincial in:
  • Cross Country
  • Track & Field
  • Indoor

If anybody has competed in their local community games or played in that weekend soccer match – its the same each week at Athletics Ireland events. All Athletics Ireland juvenile events are fun days out for the family – all the regulars show up and its just a great way to hang out with your friends and make some new ones, while participating at some events at the same time, and if there are some adults competing on the same day, you get to see what its like if you stay with the sport!
